Big Orange pumpkin Farm at preston trail

Big Orange pumpkin Farm at preston trail

I just love pumpkin patches! I’m going to be very sad when the day comes that my children don’t want to pumpkin patch with me anymore. That will never happen right!? We took a trip out to Gunter, Texas to visit Big Orange Pumpkin Farm. It was awesome! The weather was perfect! We spent almost 2.5 hours at the farm and my kids were whining to stay longer. The drive was approximately an hour for us. It was mostly city driving north through Frisco and Prosper. Just as you finally break out of the concrete jungle a sweet little slice of Texas greets you in Gunter.

From the road you only notice the large Preston Trail Feed Store, but back behind the feed store, Pumpkin Farm activities await. The price of admission includes a cup of feed for the petting zoo, a hayride, and a small pumpkin to take home. There is also a maze and several cute photo ops set up. I loved the fact that we had access to indoor bathrooms in the feed store, and also a dining option at their cafe inside. There were plenty of tables inside and out, and handfuls of groups picnicking on the grassy lawn.

We ran into a few field trip groups which made the hayride a tad bit crowded, but by 1:00 pm, the whole place had cleared out. The hay ride is a nice easy ride around the property, and a little bit longer than most we’ve been to. If you are paying close attention, they added some humor along the way. Anyone seen the farmer??

My kiddos favorite parts were feeding the animals, driving the adorable kid sized tractors, and cooling off with a sweet treat! We can’t resist ice cream anywhere we go! This is Fall in Texas…hot! The only thing we didn’t get to try was the lasso (not pictured), only because it was pretty popular and we didn’t find an open spot in between our animal feeding and ice cream eating. Next time!

On the way out, we just couldn’t resist the coin machine rides. Too fun! This Pumpkin Farm has done a great job of including activities for young kids plus amenities for adults. Take a day trip out to Big Orange Pumpkin Farm before the season is over! God bless Texas!
