Sail away from stress…treat yourself in Granbury

Trips with kids are fun, but trips with adults only is VACAY y’all!!! Am I right? We all need adult only weekends sometimes. Granbury, Texas is always one of my favorite towns to visit and is high on my list when thinking of somewhere to mix R&R with a little fun or adventure. It also helps that it’s an easy drive and only about 60-70 minutes outside of DFW. Since we have very few kid-free trips, we were intentional about making this one a real treat and boy was it! One of the biggest treats was our lodging experience. We really wanted something upgraded and unique. Something cozy, but not tucked too far away from all the action in Granbury Square or from the lake. This checked all the boxes.

The Inn on Lake Granbury is a quaint and serene adults only property located on Lake Granbury. You can book a private room, cottage, loft, or the lake house. Since we were treating ourselves, we booked the lakehouse. It has two king bedrooms, two very large bathrooms, an upstairs balcony, and a downstairs patio. We had a full kitchen, a double sided fireplace, multiple sitting areas, and a large backyard. The pool was in close proximity to the lake house, and we took full advantage of the poolside lounge chairs on our warm sunny weekend getaway. The sitting dock served as a very relaxing place as well.

My absolute FAVORITE spot to relax in this lake house ended up being in the soft velvet blue swivel chairs in front of the enormous glass windows. It was the perfect coffee drinking spot. I sat there each morning, coffee in hand enjoying the view, listening to the birds chirping and boats motoring by. What’s that other sound!? It sounds like a knock at the door…who could it be?? Ohh, it’s breakfast being delivered to our table. I like that sound! Sounds much different than my three kids begging me to make them breakfast and turn on their favorite tv show. Talk about treating yourself…The Inn on Lake Granbury not only delivers breakfast to you, they also include afternoon cocktails and appetizers during your stay.

Before it was even time to check into our lake house at the Inn, we had already had quite a day of relaxing and enjoying ourselves. As soon as we arrived in Granbury, we made a lunch stop at Stumpy’s Lakeside Grill. This was a perfect spot to unwind and set our mind on living that lake life for the next 2 days. If you like a good burger or sandwich accompanied by a festive and yummy adult beverage, this is the place for you. We were in no hurry to leave their large outdoor lakeside patio. You can do a little shopping in their boutique or grab a sweet treat to curb that sweet tooth of yours at Stumpy’s Sweet Shack. Both of which are located inside the restaurant. This was a great way to start our weekend.

Next, it was time to sail away on our afternoon boat cruise. While it would have been fun to bring my kids on this cruise, it sure was a treat to just sit and sail, not worrying about which one of them was going to attempt to jump overboard. This was an hour and a half cruise that took us up and down sections of the lake. We enjoyed the scenery, listening to music and feeling the breeze. We booked our tiki cruise through Captain Kirk’s Tiki Cruises. They offer family cruises and sunset cruises in addition to the afternoon cruise we booked. Shout out to Captain Tray who was our boat driver for the tour! He made sure we were relaxed and having a good time!

When the cruise was over we checked into our lake house and enjoyed some down time.

We couldn’t NOT treat ourselves to a delicious dinner since treat was the theme of the weekend after all. We had dinner reservations at Eighteen Ninety Grille and Lounge located in Granbury Square, just a few blocks over from the lake house Good news/bad news about our visit to Eighteen Ninety. The good news is that their 8oz filet with a side of mashed potatoes and fancy green beans was heavenly! A winning combination. I’m such a sucker for a steak and potatoes. The bad news is that I was too caught up in my juicy filet goodness, glass of Cab, and great conversation, that I forgot to take any pictures to show y’all of the inside and its rustic glam ambience. Sorry friends. I guess I’ll have to go back OR you can make yourself a reservation. Please trust me when I say, this restaurant is a treat you don’t want to miss!

Now, if you are looking for a real after dinner treat, and I’m not talking about baked goods or ice cream, but rather an after dinner drink and dancing, then head across the square to D’Vine Wine. Karaoke night is held every 2nd and last Friday of the month. We picked the right time to come! The wine was good, but the music, dancing, and people were even better. The SWEETEST people work here. They went out of their way to make sure we felt welcome and were having fun. We definitely made new friends and fun memories! Did I get up and sing karaoke? Well…almost…but they closed the doors for the night just as I was going to pick my song…I just missed it! Ha!

The rest of the weekend we treated ourselves to some shopping on and off the square. A few of our favorite boutiques were Pug on a Pontoon, Hope Boutique, and The Pearl. If you shop until you literally drop, make sure it’s at The Pearl because they have a lovely tree swing facing the lake where you can regain your strength. One of us may have done that exact thing! Shopping is always awesome in Granbury!

You know what else is awesome about Granbury? Live music! There is always live music happening around this town and we are here for it! We drove over to Revolver Brewing and treated ourselves to live music, people & puppy watching (so many adorable dogs with their families), a food truck and adult beverage tastings. I tasted the Citrus Blonde and the Ranch Water. Both very refreshing and delicious. With the price of admission you get 6 tastings, and a Revolver Brewing beer glass keepsake. Hello brisket nachos!

This weekend was so much fun!

If you are in need of some grown-up only time, like we were, you don’t have to go far. There is an adorable little slice of Texas waiting for you in Granbury. God bless Texas, and God bless that savory 8oz filet cooked to absolute perfection!
